The best WooCommerce shipment tracking plugins
Disclosure: we make OrderCtrl, which is listed last and clearly marked. Every other entry is described from its own product page or WordPress.org listing, with prices checked on September 30, 2026. Prices and features change, so confirm on the vendor’s site before you buy.
Customers want to know where their order is, and WooCommerce doesn’t ship with tracking at all. The right plugin depends on one question: do you just need to share a tracking number, or do you want to track the shipment and keep the customer updated?

| Price | Free for 100 tracked shipments a month. Paid plans start at $40 a month for 500. |
|---|---|
| Best for | Stores that want tracking, returns, claims, protection and subscription changes in one branded portal. |
| Where | orderctrl.io |
What it does
- Does the live tracking itself, so you don’t need a separate tracking service
- Add tracking numbers on the order, or buy USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL Express and Canada Post labels with your own Shippo or EasyPost account or OrderCtrl’s. Numbers are saved to the WooCommerce order in the Shipment Tracking format, so you don’t need a plugin just to add them
- Also picks up tracking numbers wherever they’re saved today: a custom field from your 3PL or shipping integration, order notes, or the Shipment Tracking plugin format (WooCommerce Shipment Tracking and AST)
- Live tracking for 50+ carriers, with every box of a split shipment on one order timeline
- Branded customer portal on your own domain, with email-code sign-in and guest lookup
- Flags stalled, late and lost shipments and can email customers or open claims automatically
Keep in mind
- Labels are bought one order at a time; high-volume shippers may still want batch label software
- WooCommerce’s own emails only show tracking links if a plugin that displays them is installed; OrderCtrl’s emails and portal include them
- WooCommerce only today, with Shopify and BigCommerce coming soon
Which one should you pick?
- Just need tracking links in emails: AST (free) or Woo’s Shipment Tracking.
- Print US labels in WooCommerce: WooCommerce Shipping saves tracking automatically.
- Want live updates and notifications inside WordPress: AST with TrackShip.
- Want a hosted, branded tracking page: AfterShip or CWILL.
- Want to add tracking or buy labels, track every box on a branded page and catch delays, plus returns and claims, in one app: OrderCtrl. It replaces both the plugin that adds tracking and the service that tracks it, shows every box of a split order on one page, and flags stalled or late shipments against your own delivery promises.
It helps to separate two jobs. One is getting the tracking number onto the order: your label tool, your 3PL, or a free plugin like AST does that. The other is tracking the package: checking the carrier, showing progress and emailing the customer. That second job is what TrackShip, AfterShip and CWILL charge for.
OrderCtrl does both jobs. Add the number on the order or buy the label there, and it’s saved back to WooCommerce in the same format AST and Shipment Tracking use. And it doesn’t mind if the first job happens somewhere else. If your 3PL, fulfillment warehouse or shipping integration writes tracking to its own order field, OrderCtrl reads that field. If your team pastes tracking into an order note, it reads the note. If you already use a tracking plugin, it reads that too. So most stores need neither a plugin to add tracking nor a separate tracking service.
Where it pulls ahead is what happens when a package goes wrong. Tracking, delay detection, claims, returns and order changes share one order record, so a stalled box can trigger an email offering the customer a replacement, and your team sees the whole story in one place or inside their helpdesk. The free plan covers 100 tracked shipments a month, so you can try it on real orders before deciding.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free shipment tracking plugin for WooCommerce?
Advanced Shipment Tracking (AST) by zorem is a popular free option. It adds tracking numbers, tracking links in emails and My Account, and Shipped and Partially Shipped statuses.
Does WooCommerce have built-in shipment tracking?
No. Core WooCommerce has no tracking field. Tracking comes from an extension such as Shipment Tracking or AST, or from a label tool like WooCommerce Shipping that saves tracking to the order.
Do I still need a tracking plugin if I use OrderCtrl?
Usually not. You can add tracking numbers or buy labels in OrderCtrl, and they are saved to the WooCommerce order in the Shipment Tracking format. OrderCtrl also picks up numbers wherever they already land: a custom field your 3PL or shipping integration writes to, an order note, or a tracking plugin. It then does the live tracking, tracking page and emails itself. Keep a tracking plugin only if you want WooCommerce’s own emails to show tracking links.
What’s the difference between adding tracking and tracking a shipment?
Some plugins only add a tracking number and link to the order. Others check the carrier for status updates, show live progress on a tracking page and send notifications.
